Auburn WR Duke Williams sits out

D'haquille "Duke" Williams, Auburn's leading returning receiver, missed his second straight practice Saturday for what coach Gus Malzahn said was a "discipline issue," although Malzahn left the door open for Williams to return.

"He had a discipline issue we're taking care of, and when he takes care of that, he'll be back on the field," Malzahn told reporters following practice. "I'll make that decision. I will let you know when he will be back.

"Bottom line: Nobody is bigger than the team around here, and that's between me and him."

Malzahn declined to be specific about what landed Williams in trouble, but Williams has been sidelined for discipline problems before. He missed several days of practice leading up to the Outback Bowl last season and was then suspended for the game for breaking team rules.

Earlier this week, Williams was on the field to open preseason camp, but missed Friday's practice as well as Saturday's practice, which was the first day the team practiced in full pads.

Williams, who is 6-foot-2, 224 pounds, caught 45 passes for 730 yards and five touchdowns last season in 10 games. He was named to several preseason All-America teams entering this season.

Malzahn told ESPN.com last month that he was excited about the depth and talent level of the Tigers' receivers. In addition to Williams, Malzahn said he felt like fellow seniors Ricardo Louis and Melvin Ray were potential pros.
